Sprint Direct Wavelength ServicesSM (DWS) is an attractive option for companies that want to build and maintain their own networks. It provides an unprotected or diverse, bi-directional, point-to-point service capable of carrying an OC48 or OC192 SONET-framed signal. Sprint DWS can support applications that demand very high bandwidth, including:
- Extensions or supplements to large networks
- Links between large data storage and processing sites, such as the financial industry
- Telemedicine and distance learning applications with high volumes of video, data, image, and voice traffic
- Critical links in carrier and Internet service provider networks
DWS can deliver high bandwidth with these notable features:
- OC48 or OC192 circuit deployed over two fibers in an unprotected, bi-directional design
- Choice of access options: customer-provided access, Sprint-provided access or co-location
- Support for circuit protection in a second OC-48 wavelength path from Sprint or another carrier
- Compatibility with a customer-managed router or add/drop multiplexer to channelize bandwidth
