Local Toll Service Terminology
LATA — stands for Local Access and Transport Area. LATAs are clearly defined regional calling areas. Calls made within the regional calling area or LATA are called "intraLATA," "local toll," or "regional toll" calls.
IntraLATA presubscription — is the process in which a customer chooses an intraLATA carrier and then is able to access the carrier by dialing 1+.
