Unwanted email has moved from being a nuisance to an escalating problem, especially for businesses. Spam can reduce employees' productivity, introduce potential legal liability, and can increase IT expense.

Three ways to stop it

Sprint utilizes three layers of protection to detect and act on suspected spam:

  • Blacklisting — Sprint uses a proprietary blacklist of the most egregious spammers.
  • Fingerprinting — Messages are fingerprinted to detect matches with known spam characteristics.
  • Heuristic screening (Rules-based scoring) — When a message's score reaches a defined threshold, it is flagged as spam. Sprint uses more than 10,000 proprietary rules to filter spam.

Added Benefits

Benefits of Sprint's spam filtering option include:

  • Improved Network Efficiency — Eliminating spam outside your network reduces the load on mail servers and results in network usage and storage savings.
  • Highly Reliable — Our customers know that they are getting the most reliable and secure solution available. Sprint uses geographically-distributed data centers with fault-tolerant, redundant and load-balanced servers, so your email is protected without any additional investment in software or hardware.

Spam Treatment

Most customers choose to quarantine messages identified as spam outside their network. Quarantined messages are stored and deleted after 30 days. Customers can review quarantined messages and retrieve improperly blocked messages. Sprint's focus is on blocking most spam while never blocking legitimate business email. Our customers tell us we block 90 to 95% of their unwanted email without blocking legitimate messages.
