Email has become a key method of communication and a great productivity tool. But email also opens enterprises to certain risks and regulations that require 24x7 monitoring to provide security.

Sprint allows companies to automatically monitor outbound and inbound email and to stop sensitive and inappropriate messages from leaving and entering the corporate network. The Sprint policy enforcement functionality allows messages to be blocked by:

  • Specific words and phrases in the subject and body of the message
  • Message size
  • Number of recipients
  • Specific To: and From: addresses
  • Specific domain(s)

Reduce Liability — Provide compliance with corporate policy

Corporate liability is reduced as policy filters help guard against the distribution of information that can result in legal liability. Sprint's outbound services can act as a relay for outbound SMTP traffic from a company's corporate network. Upon handoff from a company's mail servers to Sprint's network, customer-defined attribute and policy rules are applied to filter the message flow.

Added Benefits

The benefits of Sprint's policy and content enforcement option include:

  • Enhanced Security — Prevents fast moving worms, viruses that may be masked as files (e.g., .vbs) from entering the system.
  • Content Control — Allows companies to monitor and enforce what type of content is appropriate for corporate messaging usage.
  • Regulatory and Corporate Compliance — Ensures compliance with written corporate policies for the dissemination of sensitive information and data . Outbound policy enforcement helps companies comply with specific laws and regulations such as HIPAA and The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

You set the rules

Attribute and policy rules are defined and edited by customers using an easy-to-use, web-based interface. Rules can include specific keywords by which email is flagged as well as message characteristics such as message size and attachment types that are not allowed to pass beyond Sprint's servers. Email that violates an attribute and policy rule is returned to the sender, and the offending email is tallied and summarized in the Rejection Report.
