Product Details

Sprint TekNet IP is an integrated communications system that unites voice, video, and data technologies to create convenient communications paths for users. Sprint TekNet IP strategically places telephones, televisions, speakers, and computers near users, increasing efficiency and optimizing resource usage. This allows:

  • Users to focus on the message, rather than the message carrier
  • Every area to be equipped with telephone, broadband video, and LAN access
  • Easy upgrade and expansion of technologies
  • Minimum use of proprietary products
  • Reduction in maintenance costs of audio visual equipment
  • Integration and positioning of existing equipment

Sprint TekNet IP eliminates unnecessary isolation and duplication of technologies by offering a total technology solution, rather than just a bundle of products. With Sprint TekNet IP, every technology is a possible link to every other. A user can control a VCR in another room from the nearest telephone keypad, make a public address announcement by simply picking up the telephone, and can schedule a videoconference from the nearest computer.

Sprint TekNet IP is designed with three major control centers, or headends, that oversee and organize communications events: Administrative Headend(AH), Distribution Headend(DH) and Video Distribution and Control System (VDCS). Each control center is linked to the major communications systems within the facility, integrating systems that are customarily limited or isolated (e.g., key system or PBX, clock and bell systems, LAN and public address systems).

Sprint TekNet IP strategically positions communications equipment throughout the school and links all functionality through specialized Web-based applications. Sprint TekNet IP software allows users to schedule and automate all voice, video, and data presentations in the building by simply launching their Web browser. A user can control a device in another room, reserve a room for a presentation, set up a video bulletin to run on every television, and turn devices off and on — all from the nearest desktop.
