Applications

Here are some examples of ParentLink Suite applications Sprint has completed:

Rural Elementary School
Suburban Middle School
Urban High School

Rural Elementary School

An elementary school with 520 children purchased a 4-line basic ParentLink (PL) system with Operator's Assistant (OA). The school has the option to upgrade to an 8-port system as the student population grows. The primary use of PL at this school is outbound dialing for school notices such as parent-teacher conferences and activities, a homework hotline and various information boxes. The school does not utilize a gradebook application because the school leadership would rather have teachers focus on lesson preparation rather than providing grade information for each student. Due to the grade level the school does not have an attendance problem.

Suburban Middle School

A middle school with 780 students purchased an 8-line PLS with OA. The administrators wanted a system that allowed each teacher to have a general information box and homework box for each period of the day or subject taught. They also intend to use outbound dialing to create surveys for students, parents and patrons. Because this school uses Gradebusters to report grade information and Pinnacle for attendance reporting, PLS was an ideal solution - Both pieces of software provide exportable databases that can be used by PLS's modules. Finally, although lack of attendance is not a problem, the school wanted students to become familiar with the ability to report absences automatically so when they get to high school they would be accustomed to automatic attendance reporting.

Urban High School

A high school with over 1,500 students purchased a 12-line PLS without OA. Because the school has a Norstar system with Norstar voicemail, OA was not needed. The school intends to use their Norstar voicemail for the homework hotline, as they have in the past, and use the PLS for outbound dialing, creating surveys, reporting grades and attendance and eventually for class registration. Attendance and student-performance are of greatest concern so the Attendance Server (AS) and Teacher's Assistant (TA) will be the first two modules used. In addition, the school plans to report the absences of at-risk students on probation to the district attorney's office.
