Transport
Sprint
Frame RelaySM Service is an established
packet network solution that provides cost-efficient
transport for bursty data applications. It is the wide
area network (WAN) transport used for connecting multiple
locations. Frame relay supports all protocols, requires
only one access line per location and typically provides
cost and performance advantages over private lines with
port speeds of 1.5 Mbps (DS1) to 45 Mbps (DS3). Sprint
Frame Relay Service is suitable for many common database,
image and other bursty data functions. Voice over frame
is an increasingly popular application for businesses
with high toll costs associated with intracompany voice
communications.
Sprint ATMSM
Service breaks data into uniform packets for transmission
and supports applications such as video and voice that
require constant flow of information. Bandwidth supported
by ATM ranges from DS1 through OC-3. ATM transport is
ideally suited for applications such as distance learning,
multimedia and collaborative engineering.
