Internet Access

Multiple users have "instant-on" access to the Internet through Sprint dedicated lines. Each Internet-ready room is equipped with a small device through which users connect their laptop computers to this dedicated Internet protocol (IP) port. Using a standard Ethernet card and adapter cable, any laptop can access the Internet, regardless of its current configuration.

Sprint Guest Online supports multiple operating systems and network platforms. Any computer that supports Ethernet, transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP) networking and a Web browser is compatible with Sprint Guest Online.

Depending on the traffic flow, and your existing network configuration, Sprint Guest Online can support hundreds of simultaneous users over a single IP address.

Sprint Guest Online offers Internet access at digital subscriber line (DSL) speed - up to 200 times that of a standard modem. Voice and data traffic do not compete, allowing for faster transmissions and online access 24 hours a day.

With your existing Ethernet-ready network, you can obtain a high-speed connection for guest and conference rooms without costly rewiring. Data is communicated over standard copper phone lines. Information is sent in packets, or bundled and transmitted in more efficient "bursts." The burst-mode protocol reduces overall interference and adapts to bandwidth and application needs.

Physical security and encrypted data systems ensure data integrity and personal privacy for all Internet and intranet applications. Acting as a security firewall, Sprint Guest Online separates your intranet and your guests' Internet traffic.

A proprietary server negotiates a "proxy" connection between the user's laptop and the Internet. The proxy breaks the direct connection between a sender and receiver, thus reducing the risk of hackers into your network and helping to prevent data theft.

The server also authorizes access, generates authorization codes, tracks customer usage, and even collects information for billing purposes. Charges can then be sent directly to your facility's property management system.
